Euro 2008 öncesi ilk sınav İsveç'e karşı!
İsviçre ve Avusturya'nın 2008 yılında ortaklaşa düzenleyeceği 13. Avrupa Futbol Şampiyonası'na katılacak A Milli Futbol Takımı, şampiyona için ilk hazırlık maçını İsveç ile yapacak.
Futbol Federasyonu'ndan yapılan açıklamada, A Milli Takım'ın, 2008 Avrupa Futbol Şampiyonası hazırlık sürecinde ilk özel maçını 6 Şubat 2008 tarihinde İsveç ile İstanbul'da yapacağı bildirildi.
Açıklamada, milli takımın İstanbul'da yapacağı karşılaşmanın oynanacağı stadın daha sonra açıklanacağı kaydedildi.
Milli takım, UEFA özel maçlar takvimi çerçevesinde 2008 yılının ikinci karşılaşmasını ise 26 Mart'ta deplasmanda oynayacak. Ardından 20-31 Mayıs tarihleri arasında yurt dışında üç özel maç daha yapılacak. Bu maçlardaki rakipler ise önümüzdeki günlerde belirlenecek.

Türkiye'den muhtemel 18 ismin, Afrika Kupası'nda olması nedeniyle lig ve kupa maçları dahil olmak üzere maksimum 6 maçta görev yapamayacaklar. Galatasaray'da Song Kamerun'da, Trabzonspor'da ise İbrahima Yattara Gine'de görev yapacak. Gana kaptanı Fenerbahçeli Stephan Appiah ise, sakatlığı sebebiyle turnuvada yer alamayacak.
Fransa'dan 51, Ada'dan da 37 futbolcu 6'şar maçta takımlarını yalnız bırakacaklar. Fransa'da Marsilya'nın yıldızı haline gelen Mamadou Niang'ın yokluğunun Mavi-Beyazlılar'ı etkileyeceği kesin. İngiltere'de ise Chelsea'nin hücum hattı Afrika'ya taşınacak! Fildişi Sahili'nden Didier Drogba ve Salomon Kalou'nun yokluğunda teknik direktör Avram Grant, ileride Shevchenko ve Pizarro'ya bel bağlıyacak. Orta sahada ise Essien Gana, Mikel ise Nijerya'nın formasını giyecek.
Arsenal'da defansın kilit isimleri Eboue ve Toure Fildişi Sahili için mücadele verecek. Bundesliga'dan sadece 14 futbolcu Gana'ya gitmesine rağmen, lig 2 Şubat'ta başlayacağı için en fazla 3 maçta kulüplerinde olamayacaklar. İspanya'da 8 oyuncu kupaya gidecek. Sevilla Kanoute'siz, Barcelona ise en az 5 maçta Samuel Eto'o'suz mücadele edecek. Kupadaki 16 takımdan 13'ünün teknik direktörleri yabancı. Bunların 5'i Fransız, 4'ü Alman, diğerleri ise Hollandalı, Portekizli, Brezilyalı ve Polonyalı.
SON ŞAMPİYON MISIR
2006'da Mısır'da yapılan şampiyonayı ev sahibi kazanmıştı. Mısır ile Fildişi Sahili arasında golsüz biten final maçının ardından, karşılaşmayı penaltılarla ev sahibi 4-2 kazanmıştı. Kupanın gol kralı ise Kamerun'dan Barcelonalı Eto'o olmuştu. 2006'daki Kamerun-Fildişi Sahili arasındaki çeyrek final maçı ise unutulmazlar arasına girdi. 1-1 biten karşılaşmanın ardından penaltı atışlarında Kamerun'da Eto'o penaltıyı kaçırdı. Drogba fileleri havalandırarak 12-11'lik sonuçla yarı finalin kapısını açmıştı. Afrika Uluslar Kupası'nın 2010'daki ev sahipliğini ise Angola yapacak.

UEFA Euro 2008
The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008, will take place in Austria and Switzerland, from 7 to 29 June 2008. It is the second in a series of three successful joint bids in the competition's history, alongside the UEFA Euro 2000, hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands and the 2012 competition in Poland and Ukraine.
A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament. Austria and Switzerland will automatically qualify as hosts; The remaining 14 teams have been determined through qualifying matches which started in August 2006. Austria and Poland will be making their first appearance in the tournament. The winner of Euro 2008 will represent the UEFA at the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup.
Bid process
The two countries jointly bid to host the games, and faced major competition from Greece/Turkey, Scotland/Ireland, Russia, Hungary, Croatia/Bosnia-Herzegovina and a 4-way Nordic bid from Norway/Sweden/Denmark/Finland. Austria had already bid with another country before, which was Hungary for Euro 2004. They had eventually lost to Portugal.
Austria/Switzerland, Greece/Turkey, and Hungary were recommended before the final vote. Greece and Turkey were rejected and let Hungary and Austria/Switzerland battle for the win.
Venues
Switzerland will play all of its group-stage matches at Basel, and Austria will play all of its group-stage matches at Vienna.
In 2004, the Zürich venue became a problem for the organisers. Originally, the Hardturm stadium was to be renovated and used as the city's venue, but legal challenges delayed the plan to a point that would not have allowed the ground to be used in 2008. This created a problem, as the agreement between UEFA and the organizers stipulated that four venues would be used in each country. The problem was solved when the organizers proposed renovating Letzigrund instead; UEFA approved the revised plan in January 2005. The Letzigrund stadium hosted its first football match on 23 September 2007.[1]

The deals follow a recent visit to China and Japan by the UEFA President, Michel Platini, and UEFA says that the agreements reflect "the growing importance of the region for UEFA and the increasing interest of football fans there in its competitions".
CCTV deal
CCTV, the largest national free-to-air broadcaster in the Chinese market – reaching over 350 million homes in the country – has been awarded the television rights for all 31 matches at UEFA EURO 2008™, while SINA.com has been granted the new media rights.
Wide coverage
CCTV will undertake wide coverage of the competition, by broadcasting all the games live on either CCTV5 (27 matches) or CCTV Soccer Channel (four matches), as well as highlights programmes at peak local time. SINA.com will show all 31 finals fixtures live and free of charge through its online and mobile services, enhancing the Chinese football fans' experience by allowing them new alternative opportunities for viewing games.
Japan agreements
In Japan, the free-to-air channel TBS will broadcast a selection of UEFA EURO 2008™ matches live. In addition, this will be complemented by full match coverage and programming offered by the pay-TV platform WOWOW TV. Both TBS and WOWOW are historic broadcasters of the UEFA European Championship and will provide full and extensive coverage of the final tournament for Japan.
Enormous passion
"China is one of the most important football publics in the world and thanks to CCTV and SINA, Chinese football lovers will now have full opportunity to enjoy the entire UEFA European Championship live on television, the internet and through their mobile phones," said Mr Platini.
